II. Service Area, Logistics & Pickup/Delivery

Service Boundaries:

  • The primary coverage area for the services of Fold & Feather is the  Greater Pittsburgh area.

Pickup & Drop-off Windows:

  • Standard pick up hours are from 8am-12pm. Standard drop off hours are from 6pm-9pm. Standard turnaround times are 24–48 hours. The Client will be notified via text message when delivery is imminent.

Unattended Delivery & Risk of Loss:

  • The Client is responsible for choosing a secure, weather-protected pickup/drop-off location (e.g., front porch, concierge).

  • The Provider is not liable for garments  once items are delivered to the designated location.

Missed Pickups / Access Issues:

Client Responsibility for Access & Placement

  • Clients are responsible for ensuring that laundry bags are accessible and clearly placed at the agreed-upon location (e.g., front porch, concierge desk, side door) at the start of the scheduled pickup window. For drop-offs, clients must ensure a secure, weather-protected location is accessible.

Courtesy Grace Period

  • We understand that life with a baby is unpredictable. Provider will wait at the pickup/delivery location for up to 10 minutes past the arrival time and will attempt to reach the Client via call, text, or TaskRabbit chat.

Unaccessible Pickups / No-Show Policy

If the laundry is not accessible, the Client is not home, or access (gate codes, locked building entries) is not provided within the 10-minute grace period:

  • First Offense (Grace Waiver): We recognize that newborn schedules are chaotic. For a first-time missed pickup, no penalty fee will be assessed, and we will work with you to reschedule for the next available slot.

  • Subsequent Missed Pickups: A Flat Fee / Shortened Billing Minimum (e.g., a $15–$25 trip fee or 0.5 hours of active task time) will be assessed to cover fuel, transit, and reserved schedule time.

    Unattended Drop-Offs & Weather Exposure

  • If the Client is unavailable to receive a return delivery, items will be left at the designated drop-off location in protective, weather-resistant packaging. Provider is not liable for theft, damage, or weather exposure occurring after an unattended delivery has been successfully completed at the agreed-upon location.

III. Reusable Bag & Equipment Exchange System

Ownership of Reusable Packaging:

  • Canvas totes, laundry baskets, transport bags, and specialized garment containers remain the property of Fold & Feather.

The Two-Bag Rotation Workflow:

  • Bag Assignment & Purpose

Upon completion of your initial service run, Fold & Feather will assign two (2) designated, branded reusable totes to your account ("Bag A" and "Bag B"). These bags are designed exclusively for transporting your child's garments to and from our care facility.

  • Rotational Delivery & Collection Protocol

To ensure continuous service without interruption, the rotation operates on an alternate swap basis:

  • At Delivery: Fold & Feather will deliver your sanitized, clean, and folded garments packaged inside Bag A.

  • Simultaneous Exchange: At the same delivery time, the Client will hand off Bag B (containing the next load of unwashed items) or leave Bag B at the designated pickup spot.

  • Subsequent Cycles: On the following service run, clean items will be returned in Bag B, and dirty items will be collected in Bag A.

  • Client Responsibility at Pickup (Bag Readiness)

  • Clients are responsible for ensuring that the designated dirty tote (Bag A or Bag B) is packed and placed at the agreed-upon pickup location prior to the start of the scheduled pickup window.

  • If the designated Fold & Feather tote is misplaced or unavailable at the time of pickup, the Client may substitute a temporary bag (e.g., a clean pillowcase, disposable bag, or household hamper). The substitute bag will be returned or recycled upon delivery of the clean load. Please note that Fold & Feather will not accept laundry orders in trash bags.

  • Bag Tracking & Hygiene Standards

  • Unique Client Tagging: Each tote is tagged and assigned directly to your account. Your garments will never be placed in a tote assigned to another family.

  • Sanitation Protocol: Fold & Feather thoroughly disinfects and launders the interior/exterior of all canvas totes between each delivery cycle at no additional charge to ensure zero cross-contamination.

Reusable Bag & Tote Exchange

Reusable Equipment & Bag Swap Policy

  • Ownership of Equipment

All reusable canvas totes, transport bags, mesh delicate bags, and garment containers provided by Fold & Feather remain the sole property of the Provider and are loaned to the Client on a rotational exchange basis ("The Two-Bag Swap").

  • Care & Normal Wear

Clients are expected to exercise reasonable care in storing and using the loaned totes. Normal wear and tear resulting from routine laundry transport (e.g., minor fraying, subtle outer scuffs) will not incur any fees.

  • Unreturned Totes Upon Service Pause or Termination

If service is paused, completed, or terminated by either party, all outstanding Fold & Feather totes and bags must be returned within 7 calendar days. Provider will offer one complimentary pickup attempt or provide a prepaid return label upon request.

  • Solid Waste Pre-Rinse Policy: We have an explicit requirement that solid waste must be scraped, sprayed, or rinsed off cloth diapers and heavy blowout garments prior to collection.

  • Right of refusal: Provider reserves the right to decline or separate severely contaminated or biohazardous items without refund.

V.  Stain Removal, Shrinkage & Damage Disclaimers

Stain Pre-Treatment Disclaimer:

While plant-based, enzyme pre-treatments are utilized, complete removal of organic stains (formula, spit-up, blowout, oil) cannot be 100% guaranteed.

Normal Wear and Tear:

Inspection & Pre-Existing Damage

While Fold & Feather handles every garment with utmost care, we are not responsible for pre-existing damage present prior to collection. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Pre-existing holes, tears, or frayed seams.

  • Loose, missing, or compromised hardware (snaps, buttons, zippers, drawstrings, or decorative appliques).

  • Fabric thinning, weakening, or stretched elastics resulting from previous washing, wear, or age.

Natural Fabric Behavior & Aging

Infant garments—particularly those made from organic cotton, bamboo, ribbed knits, or fleece—naturally experience structural changes over time. Fold & Feather is not liable for standard fabric evolution resulting from normal washing and drying, including:

  • Pilling & Fiber Fuzzing: Natural surface pilling or bobbling that occurs on delicate or soft knit fabrics over time.

  • Shrinkage & Distortion: Minor, normal shrinkage inherent to organic or un-preshrunk natural fibers, provided care label instructions (or Client intake instructions) were followed.

  • Color Fading & Bleeding: Gradual fading from repeated laundering, or dye bleeding resulting from non-colorfast fabrics or manufacturer defects.

Manufacturer Quality Disclaimers

We follow garment care labels and standard pediatric wash protocols. We are not liable for damage or alteration caused by poor garment construction, low-quality dyes, defective snaps/stitching, or improper/missing care labels provided by the clothing manufacturer.

Limitation of Liability:

Maximum Financial Liability Cap

In the rare event that a garment is lost, stolen while in our direct custody, or damaged beyond repair due to gross negligence during processing, Fold & Feather’s total liability is strictly capped. Liability per order shall not exceed whichever is lower:

  • Maximum Multiplier: Three times (3x) the total service charge for the specific order in question; or

  • Maximum Per-Item Cap: A maximum reimbursement of $25.00 per individual item (e.g., single onesie, sleeper, or swaddle) and $50.00 per specialty outerwear/sleep sack, regardless of original retail cost or sentimental value.

Claim Reporting Window

  • All claims regarding lost, missing, or damaged garments must be submitted in writing (via email or chat) within forty-eight (48) hours of delivery.

  • Items must be made available for inspection prior to any claim processing or credit issuance. Failure to report missing or damaged items within 48 hours constitutes a waiver of all claims related to that delivery.

 High-Value & Vintage Garments

  • Client Disclosure Requirement: Garments with a single retail or replacement value exceeding $75.00 (e.g., luxury designer infant wear, heirloom christening gowns, high-end wool sleep sacks) must be explicitly disclosed on the Intake Form prior to pickup.

  • Fold & Feather reserves the right to decline processing high-value or irreplaceable heirloom garments that require specialized dry cleaning or museum-grade restoration.
